Georgian College is giving local high school students a chance to picture what their future careers might look like.
Picture Your Future is an event run by Ontario's colleges as part of a province-wide College Information Program that visits Ontario college campuses and uses green-screen technology to take the students' photos in an array of career settings. The Picture Your Future event will arrive at the Georgian College Owen Sound Campus on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 9:30 a.m. Picture Your Future is a fun and interactive way for students to see themselves in such career settings as firefighting, broadcasting, game development, business, nursing, aviation and more while also having the opportunity to speak with recruiters about specific programs available at Ontario Colleges. The event promotes the numerous and varied career opportunities available to young people through a college education.
"With more than 88 per cent of Georgian graduates finding work within six months of graduation, college education offers a clear path to success," says MaryLynn West-Moynes, Georgian College President and CEO. "With this tour, we're hoping to inspire students to think creatively about their future careers and education. This includes exploring the vast number of options offered at Ontario's colleges."
Picture Your Future is a province-wide tour run by Colleges Ontario, the advocacy organization for the province's 24 public colleges. This is the third time the tour has run in Ontario, with the tour gaining momentum each year. The tour runs from September to November and will visit all regions of the province.
Picture Your Future is one part of a broader, longer-term effort by Ontario's colleges to help students learn about the more than 600 programs available at colleges. Students are encouraged to think about their options and the post-secondary path that best suits their strengths and career goals.
