The Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce will be celebrating its volunteers at our annual appreciation event on June 20.
"If you have even volunteered for the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce please consider this your personal invitation," said Jennifer Isber-Legge, Volunteer Coordinator.
"Hundreds of people each year give thousands of hours to support our local Society," she said. "Once a year we invite our volunteers to come together so we can celebrate their contributions to the work we do.
The Alzheimer Society of Grey-Brice provides information, education, support and counselling services to individuals with dementia, to their families and their partners in care.
"Volunteers support these services in so many ways," Isber-Legge said. "We have volunteers who help fundraise, who help with programs and services, who support our office staff.
"The value of their contributions is in the hundreds of thousands of dollars each year."
This year's Volunteer Appreciation, sponsored by Miller Insurance, takes place from 4 to 6 p.m., on Monday June 20 at the Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound.
"This year we will be presenting the Dementia Play, a production by Sheatre in cooperation with the Alzheimer Society," Isber Legge said.
"Individuals with dementia and their care partners have been involved in creating and staging the play, based on their own personal experiences."
