Everyone has certainly experienced today's hectic non-stop pace in day-to-day living and wished for time to express heart-felt gratitude. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to slow down for one day and say "Hey, thanks!" to those we appreciate most?
Random Act of Kindness Day is a day to celebrate those little niceties and encourage others to pay those "acts of kindness" forward.
"I think that we live in a very caring community where simple acts of kindness happen every day. This community event will remind us to acknowledge and thank people, then to do a good turn and pay it forward." says Stuart Reid, Executive Director of Community Foundation Grey Bruce.
Friday, November 4, 2016 will be Random Act of Kindness Day in Grey Bruce. Community Foundation Grey Bruce, will be joining other Community Foundations across Ontario, acting as a kindness hub, encouraging community caring and sharing. The Foundation will be distributing cards that will encourage the cardholder to perform a simple act of kindness for someone – a neighbour, a friend, a co-worker, or someone they don't even know – and hand the card over to that person – encouraging him/her to do the same.
There are many different types of action that people can use as their kind act – buy someone a coffee, congratulate someone on a job well done, act as a sounding board for another, even something as simple as holding open a door for someone with their hands full – each act provides us with an opportunity to connect with a member of our community.
Random Act of Kindness cards will be available for pick up at Community Foundation Grey Bruce office on Carney's Lane in downtown Owen Sound.
