No Falls This Fall Workshop PosterFalls are a serious problem in our region. Each day about 24 people visit the emergency rooms in Grey Bruce due to a fall related injury. Of those, 2-3 will end up hospitalized. A fall, or even the fear of falling, can limit otherwise routine day to day activities.

Designed for the older adult, a free workshop No Falls This Fall looks at how to prevent injuries from falls; the role of alcohol and medications in falls; and, managing osteoporosis through exercise. This workshop takes place Wednesday, November 2, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00, at the Grey Bruce Health Unit, 101 17th Street East, Owen Sound. The morning session will include three keynote speakers, a panel presentation of how a patient flows through the system after a fall and local health exhibits.

Admission is free but registration is requested. Light refreshments will be provided. Visit Preventing Falls in Older Adults for more information.

To register, call 519-376-9420 ext. 1237. This workshop is hosted by the Grey Bruce Fall Prevention and Intervention Program.
