war diaryBilly Bishop Home: Museum, Archives & National Historic Site, invites you to come and listen to a reading of "The Padre's War Diary" on Wednesday, November 9th from 7pm to 8pm at the Museum.

This book is a compilation of diary entries made by Rev. Major Michael (Mike) Dalton, a Second World War Chaplain, serving with the Essex Scottish. The book covers his years in England, and at the front in France, Belgium, and Holland, and up to the border of Germany.

Seventy years later, his nephew, Brian Dalton, has compiled 329 of his uncle's daily entries made over four and one-half years and, combined with some material from the Padre's personal archives, has illustrated their contents in 200 detailed black and white ink drawings.

Come and listen to excerpts from "The Padre's War Diary", written with profound compassion and often times a welcoming sense of humour. It also provides unique insights into the experience of the war of the foot soldier/infantry man and the Chaplains who accompanied them.

The book reading on Wednesday, November 9th from 7 to 8pm will also be accompanied by slides of some of the artwork from it.
