Following on its recent fundraising event called The Christmas Train, the Community Waterfront Heritage Centre (CWHC) invites donations now of new, gently used and vintage holiday decorations for the third annual Christmas Train in November 2017. This is a perfect opportunity for downsizers to cull their collections and make a community contribution at the same time. Instead of storing decorations for another year, call the CWHC at (519) 371-3333 to arrange a drop-off time.

The CWHC is dedicated to celebrating and preserving the marine, rail and industrial history of Owen Sound. Although officially closed for the season, volunteers and staff are now focusing on the 2017 exhibitions and programs and the museum is open by appointment.

After tape, ribbons and bows are removed, flattened wrapping paper can be recycled in your Owen Sound blue box, alongside the box board, or taken to a special Wrapping Paper bin at the Recycling Depot.  Only paper can be recycled, so plastic or foil wrappings will still have to be put in the garbage.

For more information on the Community Waterfront Heritage Centre visit their website , email [email protected] or call (519) 371-3333. The Owen Sound Recycling Depot is at 2085 20th Avenue East and Public Works information is available on the City website or 519-376-4274.
