-James Moyse and Dylan Johnson
How's business? Lately people have been asking "what made you start a business in Owen Sound?" So many believe it's an intimidating endeavour. It's true that so many small businesses have opened and abruptly closed in recent years here. It really is quite sad because Owen Sound is a small city that was practically built on small businesses.
If you grew up here you might know Wilma's flower shop, DC Taylor's jewellers, McArthur Tire, Fulfords hardware store or Dylan's family's business Johnson pumps and motors. They are all still open and providing great products and services! Another notable one that started out small is Vandolders custom exteriors. Some memorable ones that have since closed their doors are Legates furniture, the Downtowner hotel and James's grandfather's store Scarrow's shoes.
So why would two young tradesmen like us quit stable jobs and embark on this risky endeavour? We feel we would be doing a disservice to ourselves if we didn't use the same old school work ethics we were raised on and new school ideas and technology we use as craftsman and apply those same principles to our business. We believe in ourselves and the members of this community. In the same way our families did over 60 years ago when they started their businesses.
We aim to be a full-service construction business. We accomplish this because we are a dependable, flexible, efficient two man team. Always seeing our projects through from start to finish. Learning more about the trade and business on a daily basis. We were born and raised here in the Owen Sound area, we love our work so it is indeed of sound quality. That's why we're called Sound Contractors.
