Celebrating National Nursing Week, May 8-14, a special event recognizing nursing leadership takes place at the Grey Bruce Health Unit, Tuesday, May 9. Nurses from across Grey Bruce will share innovative nursing best practice and learn about leadership, how to become an effective leader and hear personal stories of how nurses demonstrate leadership in their everyday practice. The event will feature May Lou van der Horst – Nursing Professor Conestoga College speaking on "Building relationships and trust as the foundation for an effective leader".

The event will also feature presentation of the 2017 winners of the Bayshore Broadcasting "Caring Nurse Award". Based on nominations from the public, the Award is presented to local nurses from all sectors who make a difference in the lives of their patients. The awards will be presented beginning at 2:30 pm.

This event is jointly supported by the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario and Grey Bruce Nursing Practice Network.
