Neyaashiinigmiing—One of the best open secrets in Grey Bruce – the Cape Croker Park is celebrating 50 years of operation on Saturday July 1st from 3 pm to 5 pm. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place inside the Park gate at the end of Park Road, Neyaashiinigmiing.

The Cape Croker Park is one of the most beautiful campgrounds in the region. Set beside the waters of Georgian Bay (at Sydney Bay) and on the reserve of the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, the distinctive bluffs of Neyaashiinigmiing rise behind the campgrounds.

The First Nation's annual traditional powwow is situated here (August 18 to 20 this year), as are various other celebrations and ceremonies.

This is a place for families. The Superintendent, Nathan Keeshig, and his staff manage the Park grounds extremely well, insisting on peaceful conduct and quiet hours. Nature trails snake out from the main roads, including one that climbs the bluff behind the camp and joins the Bruce Trail. The Cape Croker Park is a self-sustaining operation and 2017 reservations are up 20% from last year. This  year the Park will venture into all-season tourism, including trails for winter usage.

Confirmed for the ribbon cutting are Nawash Chief Greg Nadjiwon, Mayor Ian Boddy (Owen Sound), Mayor Janice Jackson (South Bruce Peninsula), and Mike Smith (Mayor of Saugeen Shores).
