Race organizers hope to surpass 500 participants and raise $50,000 for the Owen Sound Hospital Foundation.

The 8th Annual Bayshore Race is taking place Sunday August 27th in Owen Sound. The race is a major fundraising event for the Owen Sound Hospital Foundation, offering a half marathon, 10km and 5km road race, power walk and kid's 1km fun run.

Registration is open online at bayshorerace.com until Wednesday August 23. After that, runners and walkers can register in person at the Runner's Den in Owen Sound, or on race day.

"The proceeds from this year's event will support improvements to diagnostic testing at the Owen Sound Regional Hospital," says Executive Director with the Hospital Foundation, Amy McKinnon.

"We're looking forward to celebrating our community on race day, while raising funds for our local Hospital" McKinnon said.

New for 2017, the Bayshore Race will offer cash prizes for record breaking racers. Course records are posted online at www.bayshorerace.com.

The first event begins at 7:30am, with all events leaving from the Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound.
