It's our 30th year of lighting up Owen Sound and we want you to join us as we celebrate and turn on the lights once again at our Opening Celebration from 3:00 – 9:00 pm on Saturday November 18th, 2017 in Downtown Owen Sound.
The Festival of Northern Lights, which started in November 1987, is a yearly event that has grown from about 30 handmade displays on one block of the downtown area in its first year, to over 400 displays covering four blocks of the downtown core, the harbour, and into Harrison Park. There are lights and figures across the Jubilee Bridge as well as the bridges at 8th, 9th and 10th Streets. The Noma Lights have been recreated and shine brightly over 2nd Ave East. Over the last couple of years, the Festival of Northern Lights has moved its opening to the Saturday of the Kiwanis Santa Claus Parade to allow for more activities and has now become the Festival of Northern Lights Opening Celebration.

Join us at the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library for story time with Mrs. Claus, balloon animals by Klash the Clown, children and adult crafts and a carol sing at the fireplace in Carnegie Hall. There are a variety of activities at the Farmer's Market from 3:00 – 9:00 pm including crafts, face painting, caricatures, nail art and hot chocolate.
