Billy Bishop Home: Museum, Archives & National Historic Site, invites you to visit with us and view our new exhibit, "The Comforts of Home", which opens to the public on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 2 pm.
This exhibit will look at what comforts the soldiers had during the First and Second World Wars. What was life like for the soldiers overseas in and out of the trenches? The "Comforts of Home" will look at care packages and letters from home that may have included items such as postcards, items knitted for a soldier, or keepsakes sent to or from a soldier while they were overseas. These things helped soldiers keep their connection with family at home. This exhibit will also look at such themes as troop entertainment, trench art, and artwork made by a soldier while in the service.
This exhibit opens to the public on June 3, 2018 and runs until May 17, 2019.
The "Comforts of Home" will open as part of our annual Veterans Commemoration Day BBQ activities and Annual General Meeting. The public is welcome to attend.
