Pull the dusty boxes off the attic shelves to preserve your family's history. Bring us your pictures, letters, diaries, newspaper clippings, posters, military documents or any other record related to the First and Second World Wars and we will create a digital image for you. We're interested in the experience of both men and women who served during these wars either on the war front or at home. Consider it a form of insurance for these treasured documents as we will ensure that a copy of the image is kept in our digital archive. Bishop House Museum and Archives in turn, will tell the stories of the local women and men who served their country within the larger context of the events of the First and the Second World Wars.

We have a special interest in D-Day and the Battle of Normandy as we are looking for artifacts and historic papers for an exhibit that OSDSS students are designing for next spring at the Billy Bishop Home and Museum. Digital Preservation Day is scheduled for Saturday, November 3rd, 10 am to 2 pm, at Branch 6, Royal Canadian Legion in Owen Sound. Please bring your artifacts, documents or images so we can scan them and return them to you. Enter from the main entrance.

An added feature of Digital Preservation Day will be a display of artefacts by local military enthusiasts. They will have items on display from many of the local serving units including the 31st Grey Regiment, 147th, 248th and 160th Battalions, in addition to the 98th Bruce Battery and the Grey and Simcoe Foresters. Also our panel of experts would be more than willing to help you find out more details of a relative who served during one of the World Wars.
