zontaThe Zonta Club of Owen Sound cordially invites you to attend our Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women – flag raising ceremony at the Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound on Monday November 26 at 9:00 am. Please wear orange if you can. A short program will take place with remarks from Heather Fowler, Executive Director of The Woman’s Centre Grey and Bruce and Cindy Weir, President, Zonta Club of Owen Sound.

This flag raising is our club’s event for the 16 Days of Activism. From November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day), the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign is a time to galvanize action to end violence against women and girls around the world. By raising our Zonta flag we are bringing attention to the issue of violence against women – including abuse, child marriage and human trafficking.

“Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women” is a Zonta International campaign to raise awareness of and increase actions to end violence against women and girls around the world.

The campaign, which began in November 2012, features the service and advocacy actions of Zonta clubs and districts to prevent and end violence against women and girls in their local communities. It also highlights Zonta International’s ongoing efforts to end violence against women and girls through the Zonta International Strategies to End Violence against Women (ZISVAW) program and through Zonta’s partnerships with the United Nations and its agencies.

This Zonta Club has over 30 years of service in the Owen Sound area and Zonta International is celebrating its 100th year in 2019. We empower women and girls through advocacy and service.
