So what do you do on that perfect winter day in February when the school buses ARE running and the playground is full of snow? You hold Carnaval!
Friday was just such a perfect day at Alexandra Community School in Owen Sound. There was a boot hockey game, and relay races and obstacle courses in the snow. And a HUGE pile of snow for sledding. The boy with the great big grin? This is his first winter here in Owen Sound - and he's from Jamaica!
The folks around the fire are waiting for the maple syrup to be ready to pour on the snow for taffy-sicles.
Inside the school there were lots of signs in French to celebrate the occasion and direct you to face painting and lots of Bonhomme-related activities and volunteers were serving hot chocolate and poutine!
Congratulations to the whole Alexandra community for un bon premier Carnaval - and many more in years to come.
Thanks to Mr. Courage for the photos!
