Come celebrate the completion of the Library’s main floor renovation and refresh on April 5th from 4 to 6 pm. Then check out our special program, Wild Weird and Wacky Weather, at 7 pm in the Auditorium.
The public is invited to visit the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library between 4 and 6 pm on Friday, April 5th and help us celebrate the refreshed library space. Come tour the refreshed main floor of the library, learn about the project, see our 3D printer and cricut machine, make a button and enjoy some cake.
At the end of January, the main floor collection was moved to the basement Auditorium. During February, the main floor was painted and new flooring was installed. In March, cabinets from Stock Wooden Toys were assembled and then we waited for our new circulation and information desks to arrive.
Local artist Stephen Hogbin, from Intersections Wood Gallery, sourced 29 varieties of wood that can be found in this area to create the variations in the top of the desks. The painted fronts represent, earth, air, water and fire.
The Library will stay open until 6 pm so the public can celebrate with us. Afterwards there will be a special free program, Wild, Weird and Wacky Weather with David Chapman, in the Library Auditorium at 7 pm.
Photographer and weather fan David Chapman will share photos and stories about the weather. In a province that is so vast and surrounded by the Great Lakes, it is no wonder we have some of the most interesting weather in the world. It offers a variety all year round because of its terrain, temperature variations and location. Learn about Fallstreak Holes, Superior Mirages and discover how far south the Aurora Borealis can actually be seen. This free presentation combines Ontario's weather uniqueness, power and beauty all wrapped into one.
