Alexandra Community School is very proud to announce the accomplishments in math of some of our Eagles! Throughout this school year, a number of Grade 7 and 8 Eagles participated in the Caribou Math Contests – a series of worldwide online contests that are held six times throughout the school year. Our top performers were brothers Michael and Daniel Liscio.
In the overall standings for the “Caribou Cup”, Michael finished in the top 3rd percentile of all students, while Daniel finished in the top 4th percentile, competing against students from all over the world. The top individual test score was Michael Liscio’s January test score, where he finished 205th out of 9662 students – good for a spot in the top 2% of all students. We are very proud of the efforts of our Eagles!
The Caribou Math Contests are an initiative of Canadian Mathematical Society and The Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences.
More information about the tests is available at www.cariboutests.com.
