distracted-regMUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS – On Friday, August 15, 2014, a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division – Mount Forest Unit, conducted distracted driving enforcement on Hwy. 10 north of Grey Rd. 4 (Flesherton) in the Municipality of Grey Highlands between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Nine drivers were charged with distracted driving under the Highway Traffic Act after they were found using their cell phones while driving.

kayaker-regA search was led by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRC) in Trenton, who coordinated efforts to locate the missing kayaker. The JRC is jointly operated by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and Canadian Coast Guard.

A search of Lake Huron in the Sauble/Saugeen area was made by members of the Bruce Peninsula OPP, Bruce Peninsula OPP Marine Unit, Canadian Coast Guard and the RCAF. The search was conducted by several vessels, a helicopter and an airplane.

opp-car-regularKINLOSS – On August 18, 2014 at 9:53 am, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft complaint from a road construction site on Bruce County Road 1 in Kinloss Township. Sometime between 7:00 pm on August 15, 2014 and 7:00 am on August 18, 2014, 130 litres of fuel and a "Yield to traffic" sign were taken. In addition, a side mirror on a large water hauling truck was damaged. There is no estimate on the value of the stolen property at this time.

kausUPDATE – Shawna Kaus, age 16, has been located in Meaford and returned home safe and sound.

MEAFORD – On Monday, August 18, 2014 at approximately 6:15 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a missing teenage girl from the Municipality of Meaford.

Shawna Kaus, age 16, was last seen at her home on Coleman Street in Meaford at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 17th.
