Between March 24, 2016 at 6:52 p.m. and March 28, 2016 at 4:18 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 5 vehicle collisions involving a deer. The following safe driving tips are being offered to help reduce your chances of hitting a deer:
Patty Kelly, Executive Director, The Women's Centre (Grey & Bruce) Inc., and the Canadian Network of Women's Shelters and Transition Houses (CNWSTH), applaud the Government of Canada's decision to invest $89.9 million over two years for the construction and renovation of shelters and transition houses. For the Network's more than 400 members, this unprecedented investment is welcome news.
Over the past 20 years, funding for shelter renovation and construction has not kept pace with Canada's population growth. Many shelters were built in the 70's and 80's and are in dire need of repair and updating to more adequately meet the needs of women – notably women with disabilities who are disproportionately represented among those affected by violence.

Bluewater District School Board is inviting members of the public to participate once again in the annual budget planning process. A public meeting will be held to share information and receive feedback regarding the 2016 – 2017 budget at the Bluewater District School Board Education Centre in Chesley on Monday, April 4, 2016 beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Input received from parents/guardians and stakeholders will help to inform board trustees and staff in regard to budget development and decision-making. A new era for public education in the Meaford area begins. At the Regular Meeting of the Board held on March 22, 2016, Bluewater District School Board trustees approved the following recommendations related to the Modified Accommodation Review – Meaford Area Group of Schools:
Group of Schools be re-organized and accommodated in Georgian Bay Secondary School for the
2016-2017 school year; and,
accommodated in St. Vincent-Euphrasia Elementary School for the 2016-2017 school year; and,
Patients of the Enhancing Paramedicine in the Community (EPIC) study are continuing to express their support for community paramedicine as the 15-month trial in Grey County comes to a close this month.
EPIC partners highly-trained Grey County community paramedics with primary care practitioners from the Owen Sound Family Health Team. Together they monitor and treat patients at home who suffer from congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder and diabetes mellitus. If a patient's health begins deteriorating, paramedics intervene and treat symptoms with the direction of a primary care practitioner. EPIC hopes to prove in-home preventative care reduces overall healthcare costs by reducing trips to emergency rooms.
