oppb-graphic-regularCHATSWORTH - On Saturday, December 27, 2014 at approximately 10:41 a.m., Grey County OPP received a report of a break-in to a residence on Grey Road 3 in the Township of Chatsworth.

Sometime between 11:00 p.m. on Friday, December 26th, and 8:00 a.m. on December 27th, unknown person(s) entered an insecure residence on Grey Road 3 while the occupants were asleep.

An HP laptop computer, serial number 5CD3114YGZ valued at $1100, was taken. Two ladies purses, a tan coloured "Rossetti" handbag and a royal blue "Roxy" handbag, containing health cards, SIN cards, credit cards, car keys, cash and other miscellaneous items were also stolen.

Residents are reminded to always lock the doors to their homes and their vehicles.

dart-regQUEEN'S PARK – For Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker, the year 2015 must mark a turnaround in rebuilding Ontario's jobs and economy. As MPP, Walker says his job will be to ensure that he continues to actively call on the provincial government to balance the budget and reduce debt.

foundations-regIt has been an extremely busy year for Community Foundation Grey Bruce, which is closing its 20th anniversary with 12 new endowed funds created during the calendar year. 2014 also marks the Foundation's largest disbursement of grants to the community in its history, distributing $572,085 dollars to not-for-profit and charitable organizations in Grey Bruce. Board Chair Kim West says "It is an exciting time to be at the helm of our growing Foundation, when community response to regional need is so generous and thoughtful. It tells us local philanthropy is truly thriving."

The Lyman "Red" Cady Endowed Fund to support the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce is a new and popular fund. Many in the community have expressed an interest in supporting their efforts in perpetuity. Scott Lovell, Executive Director of the Hospice, says "The Hospice is proud of the relationship we have with our community. It is with the support of residents throughout Grey and Bruce that we are able to offer expert, compassionate end-of-life care to patients from our region.

opp-crash-regMEAFORD - On Saturday, December 27, 2014 at approximately 9:00 a.m., Grey County OPP received a report of a break, enter and theft from the Meaford Factory Outlet located on Cook Street, in the Municipality of Meaford.

Sometime between 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 26th, and 9:00 a.m. on December 27th, an unknown male forcibly gained entrance into the business and breached the safe inside the office. Approximately $4,000 cash was stolen.

fire-chat-regCHATSWORTH – On Thursday, December 25, 2014 at approximately 2:38 a.m., Grey County OPP responded to a report of a structure fire on the East Back Line in the Township of Chatsworth.

The homeowner was awakened to the sound of audible fire alarms throughout the two-storey structure. The 48-year-old male victim exited the smoke filled house through a second storey window and called 9-1-1 from a neighbour's residence. He was taken to hospital as a precaution and released. His wife, son and daughter were out of town visiting relatives when the incident occurred.
