oppb-graphic-regularSouthgate - On Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at approximately 6:26 a.m., Grey County OPP received a report of a break-in at the landfill site located on Southgate Side Road 41 in the Township of Southgate.

Sometime between 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2nd and 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3rd, unknown persons forcibly entered the site. Various storage units were breached and searched. Approximately 300-400 lbs of scrap copper wire was stolen from the site. This is the second break-in at the site since August 2014.

Police continue to investigate.

beer-regDuring the early evening hours of Sunday November 30th, a male who was under the influence of alcoholic beverages began to argue with his girlfriend of several years, about a former boyfriend who had made a comment on Facebook.

The argument escalated with the male becoming aggressive and as a result the woman told her boyfriend that she was removing their two young children from her residence. This caused the Durham resident to shove the victim against the wall and then throw furniture around her residence with the children still present.

warmth-regOwen Sound - Community Foundation Grey Bruce will hold a press conference on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Meaford Hall to announce a significant donation from the Eva Leflar Donor Advised Fund. The donation will support food for the hungry and winter warmth initiatives for United Way of Bruce Grey, Oshare, Keystone, Bruce Grey Family & Child Services as well as 20 food banks in Grey and Bruce Counties including the two First Nation Territories.

TIVERTON, ON – Bruce Power's Unit 5 was returned to service Thursday morning after completing a planned maintenance outage.

Unit 5, which had operated for over 500 continuous days before being removed from service for the $86 million maintenance investment program, is one of the top-performing pressurized heavy-water reactors in the world. The final planned outage of 2014 brought 400 temporary workers onto the Bruce Power site.

opp-car-regularMEAFORD – On Thursday, November 24, 2014 at approximately 12:20 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended Georgian Bay Secondary School, 125 Eliza Street in the Municipality of Meaford, in response to a report of a sexual assault that had occurred.

Investigation revealed the victim, a 15 year old female student, was lured into a bathroom at the school where she was inappropriately touched by a male student.
