hardhats-regTIVERTON, ON – After the death of two members of Canada's Armed Forces last week, Bruce Power employees rallied together to raise over $15,000 in support of our troops, with more money to be counted.
On Thursday, Bruce Power employees opened their hearts and wallets to honour the service and memories of Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent and Corporal Nathan Cirillo, who were killed in two separate incidents last week. The $15,000 raised will go to Helmets to Hardhats (H2H) Canada, a non-profit organization which helps Canadian veterans and reservists transition to civilian life by offering apprenticeship opportunities in the building trades.

The growing number of falls among Ontario's seniors and the devastating consequences from falls has prompted Finding Balance; seniors focussed awareness and injury prevention program.

"Finding Balance aims to help seniors stay active and independent. Seniors have so much to contribute and are a vital part of our families and communities." says Alysa Heersink, Health Promoter with the Grey Bruce Health Unit. "While the cost to our health care system from falls is significant; they are small when compared to the impacts on the independence and quality of life of seniors experiencing falls."

tax-cuts-regOttawa, ON – Today, the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, announced several new measures to support Canadian families through tax cuts and increases in important benefits. Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, supports the announcement of these measures.
The measures announced today relate to a new Family Tax Cut, increases to and expansion of the Universal Child Care Benefit, and increases to the Child Care Expense Deduction. The following measures were announced:
