Six students from Grey and Bruce Counties are preparing for an opportunity of a lifetime as they participate at the 2022 Virtual Canada Wide Science Fair (CWSF).  The virtual fair will be taking place from May 16th to 20th and will include Team Bluewater alumni Laurissa Christie and Sophia Cottrill as part of the CWSF Ambassador Team.  Over 350 students from across Canada will be completing for almost $1 million worth of awards and scholarships including trips to international competitions and the coveted title of being Canada’s Top Young Scientist.  To learn more about CWSF 2022, visit youthscience.ca/science-fairs/cwsf/virtual-2022/.

Team Bluewater has been working tirelessly to prepare for the upcoming competition.  The following members of the team were selected at the Senior Bluewater Regional Science and Technology Fair, which took place in April.  The members of the team are (top left to right; then bottom left to right)

• Olivier Lafleur from École catholique St-Dominique-Savio with his project « Les plantes, des ordinateurs quantiques? »

• Amalia Stolzfus Forand from École catholique St-Dominique-Savio with her project, « Pêche et amande : Deux dans un! »

• Islay Graham from Owen Sound District Secondary School with her project, “The National Helmet Expiry Inquiry”

• Anna Elyse Siekerzycki from St. Mary’s High School with her project, “Corticosteriod Injections/ Hyaluronic Acid and Their Use in Performance Horses”; and,

• Abby Vereecke from St. Mary’s High School with her project, “Food Waste: What Can We Do Better?”

• Vedant Sheel from Saugeen District Senior School with his project, “Smart Solar Tracker”

 At the Senior Fair, special recognition was given to Best of Fair winner Islay Graham from Owen Sound District Secondary School, and to Tara Meikle and Owen Prior from St. Mary’s High School as the Sanofi Biogenius Award winners for their project on Stem Cell Application.  A full list of the medalists and award winners can be found by visiting www.brstf.org.
