With 11 days to go before nominations close, and 76 days before the election, there is currently no candidate for Public School trustee to represent Owen Sound on the Bluewater District School Board.
The current Owen Sound trustee, Jennifer Miller, has said she is not seeking re-election, citing in part her commitments as Executive Director of REACH Centre Grey-Bruce.
Our Ontario school boards are the bodies that operate the province's publicly funded schools. School board trustees are the members of a school board. Locally-elected representatives of the public, they are the community's advocates for public education.
Depending on the school board tax support you have identified on the voters' list (check here to be sure it is accurate), you can vote for a trustee in one of four school boards – Bluewater District School Board, Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire Viamonde (French public) or Conseil scolaire catholique Providence (French Catholic).
All but the Bluewater District currently have registered, nominated candidates.
This website explains more about the election of school board trustees, and may answer some of your questions about eligibility, responsibilities and what you need to know as a voter or a candidate. Local election information for the Bluewater District School Board is available on their website.
