The sun shone on The Sydenham today. The first piles are being excavated to grade in preparation for formwork to be constructed and concrete to be poured for the seven-storey condominium development in downtown Owen Sound.

Rowland Concrete, the company performing the work, is on site preparing the pile caps on which the development will be supported. The piles were driven between October and December last year. Since that time street works were performed to bring water and sewer connections from the municipal system into the building. Excavations by Underwood Construction prepared the site for the concrete work and added improvements along the riverbank by removing the old walls and installing stone along the embankment.

The development is at the location of the former Todd's Sporting Goods building on 9th Street East as well as the former Lovelace Building on 1st Avenue East.

The Sydenham is a development of 32 luxury condominiums, each having access to the  Sydenham River and outdoor spaces. Of the 32 residences only 9 remain available. Occupancy is anticipated beginning in autumn 2016.
