The United Way of Bruce Grey reflects on 2015 with its Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Change in Leadership
After 2 years as Chair, Dave Myette will serve as Past-chair and Nick Lovell will take over as chair.
Nick Lovell is an associate at the law firm Middlebro & Stevens. Nick grew up in Owen Sound before attending the University of Waterloo. He graduated with an Honours Degree in Legal Studies. Nick graduated from the University of Windsor faculty of law in 2014.
Nick articled with Middlebro' & Stevens LLP, and returned to the Firm after his call to the bar in 2015. Nick practices in the areas of labour and employment, general litigation, and wills and estates. Nick is also a Provincial Offences Prosecutor in the counties of Grey and Bruce.
In 2012 and 2013 Nick was the United Way of Bruce Grey's Backpack Co-ordinator. Nick joined the United Way board in June of 2014.
Financial Status
The United Way ended its financial year in a strong position. Reaching $1 million in revenue for the first timein the organization's history. Careful financial management resulted in a surplus of $193 000. That surplus will be the basis of the 2016 grants which are also being issued at the AGM.

August 10 Fire Fund
The United Way just received confirmation that the polling of the donors can proceed.
The mailing of the poll question has been sent out just this week. It is the intent and hope of the United Way Board of Directors that a broad based Disaster Fund can be set up utilizing the surplus from the August 10th Fire Fund. Support is still being provided to the August 10th fire victims with the most recent interaction, and flow of funds being this week.

Looking Ahead to 2016
The United Way is looking to 2016 with many projects and community partnerships well underway.
