Ottawa, ON – Today, Larry Miller, Member of Parliament for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, issued the following statement regarding the tragic death of former Member of Parliament and Minister of the Crown, the Honourable Jean Lapierre and his family:

"I was deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of The Honourable Jean Lapierre and members of his family on the îles-de-la-Madeleine.

Mr. Lapierre was a very well-respected and loved Member of Parliament and Minister and I know that he will be deeply missed in Quebec and across Canada.

When I first came to Ottawa in 2004 and sat in Opposition, I found Mr. Lapierre, then Minister of Transport, very approachable and willing to listen to my concerns. That is something I will always remember him for.

I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Lapierre at this most
devastating time."
