Highway 6 from Chatsworth Sideroad 5/Walker Sideroad, south to Chatsworth Road 24, Williamsford, in the Township of Chatsworth is closed due to flooding. Several homes have been evacuated.
Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Chatsworth Fire Department, the Chatsworth Township Roads Department, and other emergency crews are at the scene. Hydro has been shut off in the area as a safety precaution.
The Williamsford Community Centre has been opened as an evacuation centre for those affected by the flood.
OPP officers and Fire Department personnel are currently in the McCullough Lake area West of Williamsford conducting a door to door canvass as this area is also affected by the flooding. Currently, properties in low lying areas around McCullough Lake are at risk. McCullough Lake Drive is under water. Residents are asked to evacuate the area as a safety precaution.
The Williamsford Community Centre is serving as an evacuation centre for those affected.
Highway 6 between Chatsworth Sideroad 5/Walker Sideroad and Chatsworth Road 24 remains closed. Several secondary roads throughout the township, particularly in the former Holland Twp., are also closed due to high water levels.
The Mayor of Chatsworth has declared a State of Emergency for the Township of Chatsworth.
There have been no injuries reported and there are no safety concerns at this time.
