opp-snow-fullA powerful winter storm has been forecast for Grey County. The expected heavy snow and strong winds are likely to make driving conditions very dangerous. The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is asking residents to consider the following measures to prepare for the storm:

- Check propane, oil and other heating sources to ensure you have heat

- Ensure you have sufficient groceries to outlast the storm

- Get flashlights, batteries and battery powered or crank radio ready

- A supply of bottled water for each person per day

- Sufficient prescription medication to outlast the storm

If you have these items on hand, you need to ensure that they are easily accessible. For more information on emergency kits, you can check online at http://www.getprepared.ca/.

Winter storms can last anywhere from a few hours to several days. Routine trips that can be post-poned should be post-poned in the interest of your safety.

Winter road reports can be accessed by dialing 511 or you can check online at: http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/traveller/conditions/.

Do not call police for road and weather information as this is not a service that we provide.
