OS-Policesept-fullIn the early evening hours on Monday March 20, 2017 a citizen called the Owen Sound Police to report that a masked man was standing on the front lawn of a residence in the of 900 block of 9th Street East, in Owen Sound. Police responded to the address, but the man had left the area prior to their arrival.

The victim received a telephone call from the resident and was told that group of people were at his house, some of whom wore masks, brandished weapons and a baseball bat.

Police had a description of the accused's vehicle and a short time later, they were located driving in the area.

Officers stopped the vehicle and investigated the four occupants. A baseball bat was located in the vehicle. Two pair of brass knuckles, an expandable baton and pepper-spray was located concealed on two of the accused.

A 22 year old Owen Sound man has been charged with the following offences:

- Carry concealed weapon - Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose - Possession of a prohibited weapon

A 21 year old Owen Sound man has been charged with the following offences:

- Possession of a prohibited weapon (two counts) - Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

The accused's have been released to a court date of Monday April 27, 2017 at 611 9th Avenue East.

Two rear seat passengers were arrested and subsequently released without charges.

Police remind the public that possession of pepper spray and expandable batons are illegal to possess unless you are an authorized user of those weapons. Brass knuckles and weapons designed to be held while punching are prohibited to possess.
