police-os-fullOn Friday August 2nd, 2014 at approximately 1:35 PM, the Owen Sound Police Service responded to a report of a man threatening and swinging a hatchet in such a manner that it caused another man to lock himself in his home and call 911.

The suspect left the scene in a car. A police officer stopped the vehicle in the downtown core and the suspect fled from the passenger side and climbed to the rooftops of several downtown businesses in the 900 block of 2nd Avenue East.

After several hours of negotiation, the 26-year-old Owen Sound man was eventually talked down off the rooftop. He was taken to the Grey Bruce Health Services by ambulance with what appeared to be minor injuries to his bare feet caused by running and jumping from the rooftops.

The investigation into the alleged threatening incident is continuing.
