On June 1, 2017 @ 14:28 p.m., the Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Bruce Peninsula OPP Marine Unit, Bruce Peninsula National Park Wardens, Tobermory Coast Guard and Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) Trenton are currently searching for a missing male, whose canoe capsized near the Grotto, in Georgian Bay, in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula.
A second passenger in the canoe, a 26-year-old male, swam to shore. He was transported by Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to a local hospital with hypothermia. He is reported to be in good condition.
Both males were not wearing life jackets. The age of the missing male is unconfirmed at this time.
The search is ongoing and further information will be reported as it becomes available.
