life-fullThe Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is continuing their search for a missing 22-year-old male from Queensland, Australia, whose canoe capsized June 1, 2017 at approximately 2:48 p.m., near the Grotto in Georgian Bay, in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula.

A second passenger in the canoe, a 25-year-old male, from Windsor, swam to shore. He was transported by Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to a local hospital with hypothermia and has since been released.

On today's date, the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Aviation Service Helicopter and the Bruce Peninsula OPP Auxiliary Unit have joined the search; along with the Bruce Peninsula OPP, the Bruce Peninsula OPP Marine Unit and Bruce Peninsula National Park Wardens.

Search resources yesterday included the Bruce Peninsula OPP, the Bruce Peninsula OPP Marine Unit, Bruce Peninsula National Park Wardens, Tobermory Coast Guard, Northern Bruce Peninsula Fire Department, ORGNE Air Ambulance and Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) from Trenton.

Both males were not wearing life jackets.
