The Owen Sound Police Service closed down a portion of the downtown area and evacuated residents of an apartment building after receiving a complaint that two men had been threatened with a gun.
Police received the report from two residents of the apartment that just after 4:30 this morning that they had been threatened and had a shotgun pointed at them by another man in the building.
Police set up an interior perimeter and evacuated other residents for their safety. At 8:30 am police attended the apartment of the suspect where he was arrested without incident.
The Criminal Investigation Branch continued the investigation and learned that the man had also attended another apartment building downtown and threatened another man with the gun.
Police remained on scene and later executed a search warrant at the apartment where the firearm, ammunition and drugs were located.
A 20-year-old Owen Sound man faces the following charges:
Pointing a Firearm (three counts)
Utter Threats (two counts)
Use a Firearm during the Commission of an Offence (two counts)
Possession of a Prohibited Firearm
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Unsafe Storage of a Firearm
Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
Failing to Comply with Probation
The accused appeared in bail court on August 15th
