A 43 year old Owen Sound woman was sent to hospital after the bicycle she was riding was struck by a truck on 6th Street East hill on Friday morning.
Around 7:15 AM the woman was travelling eastbound in the 500 block of 6th Street East when she was clipped by an eastbound Freightliner stake truck being driven by a 60 year old Owen Sound man. The woman was transported to hospital by ambulance where she was treated and released for minor injuries. The driver of the truck was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with failing to turn out to the left to avoid a collision with a bicycle.
Around 2:15 PM a 65 year old Owen Sound man received minor injuries after his small motorcycle struck a minivan that had turned in front of him. The man had been riding northbound in the 600 block of 2nd Avenue East when the van made a left turn into a parking lot. The motorcycle rider was transported to hospital by ambulance where he was treated and released.
The driver of the van, a 74 year old Lion's Head man, was subsequently charged under the Highway Traffic Act with making an unsafe left turn.
