On August 26, 2017 at approximately 7:53 p.m., Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police together with the Northern Bruce Fire Department and the Bruce County Paramedic Services responded to a head on collision between two vehicles on Highway 6 between Lindsay Road 30 and Miller Lake Road in Northern Bruce Peninsula.

Initial investigation by OPP Technical Traffic Investigators (TTCI) reveals that a passenger vehicle was being driven erratically, southbound on Highway 6 when the driver collided head-on with a northbound sports utility vehicle (SUV). The impact caused the SUV to become engulfed in fire.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 30-year old male from Mississauga, was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the SUV and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

All four passengers in the passenger vehicle were transported to area hospitals. An adult female and male passenger sustained serious injuries, another adult female sustained non-life threatening injuries, and a 39-year old male was air lifted to a London hospital where he is in critical condition. They are all from the Mississauga and Brampton areas.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit (TTCI) and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services. Names of the deceased and injured will be forthcoming pending notification of next-of-kin.
