On August 26, 2017 at approximately 7:53 p.m., Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police together with the Northern Bruce Fire Department and the Bruce County Paramedic Services responded to a head on collision between two vehicles on Highway 6 between Lindsay Road 30 and Miller Lake Road in Northern Bruce Peninsula.
Initial investigation by OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) reveals that a passenger vehicle, a Dodge Charger, was being driven erratically, southbound on Highway 6 when the driver collided head-on with a northbound sports utility vehicle (SUV). The impact caused the SUV to become engulfed in fire.
The driver of the Dodge Charger, a 30-year old male from Mississauga, was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified as Jim Thomas Johny. The passengers inside the vehicle have been identified as 42-year old Shovani Pathak of Brampton; 31-year old Sheena Varma of Brampton; 24-year old Arun Sadana of Mississauga, and 39-year old Ravinder Kalsi of Brampton, who remains in critical condition.
The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services. Names of the deceased driver and passenger of the SUV are being withheld pending identification and notification of next-of-kin.
