The countdown is on as the newly reconfigured East Ridge Community School in Owen Sound prepares to welcome elementary students on the first day of school on Tuesday, September 5, 2017.
During this last week of the summer break, final renovations and clean up are occurring as staff unpack and move into their new classrooms. For this reason, tours of the facility will be deferred until after the start of the school year. However, we are excited to share that the new school website is now live at www.erc.bwdsb.on.ca, which includes a map that has been created to assist parents and families on the first day of school. The map outlines student meeting places for each grade level from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, as well as parking and drop-off spaces. Staff extend their thanks to everyone in advance for their patience and understanding during this period of transition.
"This is an exciting time as we get ready to welcome our new school community of East Ridge Falcons. I know that all of our dedicated staff are working diligently to ensure a smooth and enjoyable start for students and their families on September 5th," says Superintendent of Education, Lori Wilder.
"We have an exceptional group of students, families and staff joining together for the first time under one roof at East Ridge. I look forward to welcoming and working with all of them as we set down roots, establish new traditions, and create our own unique learning culture in this amazing facility," says Principal Burke Mason.
An official opening for East Ridge Community School is being planned for the fall for members of the public.
