On September 23, 2017 at approximately 9:53 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police received a report of vandalism at the Markdale Ball Diamond located in King Edward Park on Walker Street in the Municipality of Grey Highlands. Sometime overnight unknown persons ripped a bench from the wall in one of the dugouts.

In recent weeks, there have been several reports of vandalism in the area. On September 5th police received a report that someone had spray painted the port-a-johns in King Edward Park. On September 7th police received a report that someone had spray-painted a wall at Beavercrest School. On September 13th police received a report that someone had put part-full cans of beer into the book drop-off at the Walter Harris Memorial Library. On September 16th, police received a report that various marketing signs had been ripped off from the ball diamond fence. On September 18th, a vehicle parked at the arena had a window smashed and a women's purse was stolen.

Grey County OPP continue to investigate these incidents and are asking the public's assistance by reporting suspicious vehicles, persons and or activities to police immediately.
