hydroResidents can now contact Grey County to apply for the Sustainable Housing Benefit, a program to assist with housing-related costs including hydro, natural gas, propane and wood heating bills.

"The temperatures are dropping and we want to make sure households in our community can catch up on heating bills and stay warm this season," said Grey County Warden Alan Barfoot. "If you're struggling with past due accounts, contact Grey County. We may be able to assist you and your family."

The application form can be found online at www.grey.ca/affordable-housing. If you are unable to access the form online you can call Grey County at 519-376-5744.

The Sustainable Housing Benefit is available to households with annual incomes below the limits set out in the Housing Services Act.

Single: $25,000

Couple: $31,000

Sole support/couple with one child: $37,500

Sole support/couple with two children: $43,000

Sole support/couple with three children or more: $51,500

This benefit is only available to residents living in Grey County.

"The Sustainable Housing Benefit is just one of the programs Grey County offers that helps care for residents," said Anne Marie Shaw, Grey County's director of housing. "If you or someone you know is in need of housing or social assistance, please contact us. We're here to help."
