Bruce Grey Child and Family Services Foundation, commonly known as the Our Kids Bruce Grey Foundation, approached the United Way Bruce Grey in the spring, to ask if our shared focus on vulnerable families could become the beginning of a new tradition.
The United Way of Bruce Grey has partnered with Bruce Grey Child and Family Services (BGCFS) for many years, and prior to that, with the Children's Aid Societies serving both Bruce and Grey. United Way has supported camps and winter programs with grants and the two organizations often worked together on community projects.
Today their role in this existing partnership is expanding as the important work accomplished by the BGCFS Foundation will now be achieved under the United Way's leadership.
Both organizations agreed that fund-raising to meet the needs of vulnerable residents in our community is increasingly challenging in these days of austerity. The United Way is an efficient charity with strong connections to our community and are champions at taking the economic challenges of rural Ontarians to Queen’s Park.
Donations will help families in Bruce and Grey live in safe places for children to grow up. Donations will also help purchase things like cribs, car seats, spots in summer camps, snowsuits and spots in recreation programs as well as other items urgently needed by families.
