OS-Policesept-fullOn November 30th, 2017, at approximatley 10:30 p.m., a 38 year old man was assaulted in the 1000 block of 2nd Avenue East, Owen Sound. The victim and two male suspects had a disagreement while inside a nearby establishment, which resulted in the altercation being taken to the street. The victim was badly beaten by the two male suspects and was left lying on the roadway. The suspects then fled the area when a vehicle passing by stopped to assist.

The roadway was dark and damp, causing visibility to be reduced. Only a few moments later, an unrelated minivan being driven southbound in the 1000 block of 2nd Avenue East, struck and ran over the semi-conscious male, causing further injury to him. The victim was assisted by the driver of the vehicle as well as a passerby, who happened to be a medical professional. The victim was later transported to the Grey Bruce Health Services and was listed in serious condition.

The assault against the 38 year old victim is still under investigation and police are asking anyone who witnessed the assault or collision, or who has information, to contact the investigating officer Constable Steve Beaney at (519) 376-1234 x 159 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
