pot-fullLION'S HEAD – On Thursday, August 28, 2014, the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of Bruce Peninsula OPP, and the West Region Emergency Response Team, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a property on George Myles Road, in Lion's Head, Northern Bruce Peninsula.

Police seized cannabis marijuana plants, cannabis resin and psilocybin. The estimated, combined value of the seized controlled substances was $36,000.

Police also seized offence-related property that consisted of cannabis marijuana production equipment. In addition, several hunting rifles, some of which were stored improperly, ammunition and crossbows were seized.

A 51-year-old man and 50-year-old woman, both of Northern Bruce Peninsula, were arrested and charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Criminal Code:

- Produce a Schedule II Substance (cannabis marijuana)

- Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – under 3 kg

(3 counts)

- Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (psilocybin); and

- Improper Storage of a Firearm.

The accused are to appear in court in Owen Sound Sept. 25.
