flyer-fullSOUTHGATE – A stolen glider from Southgate Township has been recovered in Wellington County resulting in the arrest of two men on October 15th and 16th, 2014, respectively.

The 25', 1977 Schempp-hirth glider plane and trailer, valued at $27,000, and an older model Kubota tractor, with an attached snow blower, valued at $2,000, were reported stolen to Grey County OPP on March 28, 2014. The break, enter and theft occurred from an outbuilding on a vacant rural property on Southgate Rd. 24 in the Township of Southgate.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, Grey County OPP Crime Unit with the assistance of Wellington County OPP and the Wellington County OPP Street Crime Unit, recovered the stolen glider at the York Soaring Club in Belwood, Ontario. Members of the York Soaring Club assisted police with the investigation.

A 23-year-old man, of Maple Township, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 and fail to comply with a probation order.

A 47-year-old man, of Centre Wellington Township, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.

Both men are scheduled to appear in court in Guelph, Ontario on Thursday, November 25, 2014.

The Kubota tractor is still outstanding. Police continue to investigate.

Man arrested for rooftop disturbance at Stonetree

MEAFORD – On Saturday, October 18, 2014 at approximately 10:25 p.m., Grey County OPP responded to a report of an altercation at the Stone Tree Golf Club on Hwy. 6 & 10 in the Municipality of Meaford.

Police arrived at the scene and observed an intoxicated male on the roof of the building. The male had been swearing, yelling and causing a disturbance to the staff and guests attending a wedding at the golf club.

The male eventually came down from the roof at which time he was arrested.

A 24-year-old man, of Northern Bruce Peninsula, was charged with causing a disturbance under the Criminal Code and being intoxicated in a public place under the Liquor Licence Act. He was held in custody until sober.

He is scheduled to attend court in Owen Sound on Thursday, November 13, 2014.

Snowmobiles stolen

SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA – Bruce Peninsula OPP received report that two snowmobiles were stolen from a property on Sideroad 15, Town of South Bruce Peninsula sometime between October 4th and October 13th.

The two snowmobiles are described as:

1. 2008 black and yellow Ski Doo 800R. Registration number: 980220. This snowmobile has a black and white 'skull and bones' plastic wrap graphic.

2. 2003 black and blue Ski Doo Legend 600cc. Registration number: 914381.

The Bruce Peninsula OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122.
