Almost 400 people enjoyed Safe n' Sound's second annual Soup Market at St. Andrew's Church hall this family day afternoon.
Soups from restaurants all over the area were on the menu, along with fresh homemade bread and carrot cake.

There was something for every taste from a dozen area resaurants– chili minestrone, thai chicken, mushroom, roasted cauliflower...
Casero Kitchen Table won the Best Soup by popular vote with their “Mexican Grilled Corn Chowder” (with coconut milk, roasted garlic & charred poblano).

This year's participating restaurants were: Sizzlin (opening soon in Owen Sound), Sisters, The Crosswinds Cafe, Sabitri’s Global Cuisine, Casero Kitchen Table, Seasons,Shorty’s Grill, Birgit’s Pastry Cafe, The European Bakery Cafe, Sabitri’s Global Cuisine, Foodland, Sprout, Mudtown Station and Windy Hill Cafe.

Leon Frisch, board chair for Safe n' Sound, said the $2500 or so raised is important for their work with the area's homeless and at-risk to continue. But he said the awareness, and concern from the community is just as valuable.

Next weekend Safe n' Sound is holding a Coldest Night of the Year walk as a major fundraiser. Frisch is delighted with the response so far, but there's always room for more.

Teams and individuals, and those who would like to sponsor them, are invited to visit the website for full details on the event and more information on Safe n' Sound.
