A Boa Constrictor snake reported missing from a residence near 11th Street West and 4th Avenue West has been located deceased.
On October 12th 2014, the owner of the 6 foot long Red Tail Boa Constrictor contacted the Owen Sound Police Service to report the snake had gotten out of its enclosure and was missing. Extensive internal and external searches in and around the home failed to locate it.
On November 11th 2014, a roommate of the snake's owner located the snake deceased. The snake was located behind a storage container in a secluded area of the home, while moving some belongings. It is unknown if the snake had moved to that location after the initial search. It was a poorly heated area of the residence and it is believed the snake perished due to exposure of cold temperatures.
Police were not initially contacted upon locating the dead snake. Owen Sound police were later made aware of the potential discovery through social media. A subsequent investigation by police provided confirmation of the recovery of the snake.
