flare-fullGEORGIAN BLUFFS – On Thursday, December 4, 2014 at approximately 4:33 p.m., Grey County OPP received a report of a barn fire on Concession 2, east of Clavering, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

The Inter-Township Fire Department, with the assistance of the Chatsworth and Wiarton Fire Departments, extinguished the fire which had completely engulfed the structure, described as an old bank barn.

The owner of the farm was plowing the driveway when he noticed the fire and called 9-1-1. He was taken to hospital by ambulance for smoke inhalation. The 48 year old victim was treated and released.

Seventeen horses perished in the barn (2 quarter horses and 15 mini horses).

The Inter-Township Fire Department continues to investigate the cause of the fire, which does not appear to be suspicious.
