During the early afternoon of Wednesday, July 18th 2019, officers from the Hanover Police Service, West Grey Police Service, Owen Sound Police Service and the OPP were involved in the surveillance of two stolen GMC pickup trucks that were parked and unattended in the area of 11th Avenue and 13th Street.
At about 2:00 p.m., 2 males were observed walking up to the trucks and about to enter when a plain clothes officer approached. The officer told the men they were under arrest but before either could be handcuffed, they both fled on foot. Other officers converged on the area and a foot chase ensued. Within minutes the two men were located and arrested in the 500 block of 10th Avenue.
A 27 year-old Hanover man and a 33 year-old man from Kitchener face multiple criminal charges including of “Possession of Stolen Property Over $5,000” and “Obstruct Police”.
At that same time and location, police spotted a 28 year-old woman who was believed to be wanted in the GTA. When the arrest warrant was confirmed she was taken into custody by Hanover Police without incident and eventually turned over to officers from Peel Region.
“This joint effort was put together on short notice and is just another example of how committed all police officers are to supporting each other and working together to make our communities safer.”
