Today, Dr. Merrilee Fullerton, Minister of Long-Term Care joinedBill Walker, Associate Minister of Energy and MPP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, at Maple View Long-Term Care Residence to announce the government is moving forward with long-term care development projects that will improve access for families in Bruce-Grey by allocating almost 200 new long-term care beds and redeveloping more than 300 existing beds to modern design standards.

91 new beds will go to the Southbridge Owen Sound project,  and 69 existing beds will be upgraded.

Hicks said he was pleased to hear about the $5000 bursary for incoming PSW students at Georgian College, and said Grey County will continue to encourage Georgian College to offer the full nursing program in Owen Sound, to help meet local staffing needs.

In Grey County, 51 new long-term care beds will be also added at Meaford Long Term Care Centre and 77 existing beds will be modernized, and 26 new beds will be added to The Village Seniors Community in Hanover.
