money-fullGEORGIAN BLUFFS - Grey County OPP is seeking the lawful owner of found money at a cemetery in Georgian Bluffs on Christmas Day.

On Thursday morning, December 25, 2014, a resident who had attended the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, located on Grey Rd. 17A in the Township of Georgian Bluffs, discovered a significant amount of money strewn about the cemetery. The resident gathered up the cash and turned it over to police for safekeeping.

The lawful owner of the money may claim it by attending the Chatsworth OPP detachment during normal business hours – Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (with the exception of Thursday, January 1, 2015 – closed for New Year's Day). Proof of ownership, including specific details, will be required before the property is released.

Driver charged with drug offences during RIDE check

SOUTHGATE – On Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at approximately 3:27 p.m., members of Grey County OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check at the intersection of Grey Rd. 9 and Grey Rd. 8 in the Township of Southgate.

A strong odour of marihuana was detected and drug paraphernalia was observed in plain view in a 2000 Honda Civic which had stopped at the checkpoint.

The lone driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old resident of Southgate, was charged with possession of cannabis marihuana - under 30 grams and possession of Cannabis resin - under 1 gram contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, February 12, 2015.

Police investigate slashed tires

KINCARDINE – On December 26, 2014 at 2:06 am, the South Bruce OPP received a report that vehicle tires had been slashed in the parking lot of 1065 Huron Terrace in Kincardine. Officers arrived to find that a total of six tires had been slashed on two different vehicles between 3:00 pm on December 25, 2014 and 2:00 am on December 26, 2014. There is no estimate on the value of the damage at this time.

Recycling bins burned

HURON TOWNSHIP – On December 26, 2014 at 10:44 am, the South Bruce OPP received a report that blue recycling bins had been burned at the Huron-Kinloss landfill site located in the 2000 block of Concession six east in Huron Township. The bins were burned sometime between December 24, 2014 and December 26, 2014. There is no estimate on the value of the damage at this time.

The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122.
